TCM Approaches Mold

Mold exposure can cause a wide range of health problems, including respiratory issues, allergies, and fatigue. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) offers a holistic approach to treating the symptoms caused by mold exposure and support the body's natural healing process.

In TCM, mold exposure is considered to be an invasion of the Lung and Spleen by Dampness and Phlegm. The goal of treatment is to clear Dampness and Phlegm, strengthen the Lung and Spleen, and support the body's natural defense mechanisms.

Herbal formulas that are commonly used to treat mold exposure include (please note it's very important to get proper diagnosis otherwise these herbs can do more damage than good):

  • Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang (Ephedra, Apricot Kernel, Gypsum and Licorice Decoction) which is used to clear Dampness and Phlegm and open up the Lungs.

  • Bai Hu Jia Ren Shen Tang (White Tiger and Ginseng Decoction) which is used to strengthen the Spleen and resolve Phlegm.

Acupuncture is also commonly used to treat mold exposure. Points such as LU-9 and LU-7 are used to clear Phlegm and open up the Lungs, while points such as SP-6 and ST-36 are used to strengthen the Spleen and support the body's natural defense mechanisms.

In addition to the above, practitioners of TCM also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle to prevent re-exposure to mold and promote overall health. This includes keeping the living area clean and dry, and avoiding damp or humid areas.

In conclusion, Traditional Chinese Medicine offers a safe and effective way to alleviate symptoms caused by mold exposure and support the body's natural healing process. With the help of experienced practitioners, patients can regain their health and prevent re-exposure.
